YorkArts: The creative spark of York County!

Chalk Walk

Chalk Walk is an exciting event designed to celebrate the creativity of artists and promote the importance of public art.

The sidewalks of downtown York become an artist's canvas and a place for audiences to watch works of art being created right before their eyes. Money raised from the event is used to benefit youth art programs.

All artists – professional, amateur and emerging – are encouraged to participate. Artists are encouraged to participate as a group or individually; however, only one prize will be awarded per mural. The completed chalk murals are judged in two age-based categories: Adult and High School. A "Peoples Choice" award is also given to the artist who receives the most votes from audience members and passersby, so encourage your family and friends to come out and support you or your group.

Registration is necessary to be eligible for prize money. [Download the Registration Brochure.]

Volunteers: The success of this innovative effort lies in part with the generosity of our volunteers. Everyone is invited to be a part of this great day.

If you are interested in participating in Chalk Walk or if you would like more information, please contact Mindy Christian at 717-848-3200 or email mindychristian@yorkarts.org.
