internship opportunity

Yorkarts is pleased to announce a special opportunity for interns to work on a major artist project that will be developed in York City. Through a grant from the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, and in partnership with Yorkarts and the William Penn Performing Arts Magnet School, nationally-renowned visual artist Jonathan VanDyke will create a short film in York in the spring of 2010. The film will utilize different buildings and sites throughout the city as sets, with students of the Magnet School serving as the cast. Several project internships are available to work directly with the visiting artist. The project interns will assist is scoping out locations, preparing sets, researching source material, handling various administrative aspects of the project, and with general project tasks as needed. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual who works well in a fast-paced environment and can juggle a variety of tasks; the candidate must possess a strong interest in the performing and visual arts. Times and general duties may be modified according to credit requirements for a school program. More information on the visiting artist is available at www.jonathanvandyke.com. In Betweens. This exhibit will focus on artwork examining those things overlooked, taken for granted, those beautiful moments, people and things that otherwise slip through the cracks. The YorkArts’ Exhibition Committee will consider all artists whose work interprets “in betweens”. Entries should be submitted no later than Saturday, Jul 17, 2010. Download the prospectus.
