Yorkfest
Yorkfest is York's premier fine arts and music festival. The Yorkfest event is comprised of a Juried Art Exhibition, a Children's Festival area, Literary Competitions for both children and adults, a Festival Marketplace, and a Culinary Arts Court.
Chalk Walk is also held during Yorkfest. During this juried competition, the sidewalks of downtown York become an artist's canvas and a place for audiences to watch works of art being created right before their eyes. All artists – professional, amateur and emerging – are encouraged to participate in this event that celebrates the creativity of artists and promotes the importance of public art.
The Juried Art Exhibition hangs in the YorkArts Gallery during the Festival and throughout the month of September. Opportunities are available annually to exhibit in our Gallery during Yorkfest and to compete in the Literary Competition. [Download the Entry Brochure.]
The Festival Marketplace showcases artists and fine craftspeople with works on display and for sale at specific site locations. Four mini stages, located throughout the area, feature performances during both days of the Festival.
The Culinary Arts Court features a variety of food and beverages. Yorkfest's Festival Marketplace is located outdoors along the Heritage Rail Trail starting at the Colonial Courthouse on the corner of West Market Street and North Pershing Avenue and continues south along the trail to the York County Industrial Museum located at the corner of South Pershing Avenue and West Princess Street in downtown York.
